Face Off: Eye Makeup Remover

Too much of this, too little of that, it is becoming very difficult to find a good eye makeup remover. Some leave too much of a residue, some just don't do their job and some burn or irritate your eyes. This is my the good, the bad, the ugly findings and I still have yet to find a great one.

Out of these four there is one clear winner, it is not absolutely amazing but it works well and can get the job done better than the rest.
If you want to know my thoughts on these removers, keep reading!
Up first is Neutrogena  Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

It may be "oil free" but whatever residue it leaves after you use it is ridiculous. This is not remover you can use for touch ups or right before applying makeup unless you wash your face after and scrub you eye area then make sure it is dry. Your liners will smear and primer will slip and slide over the residue this leave. Also, if it gets in your eyes (which it manages to do a lot), your vision will be blurry until your eyes can clear it. I used to like this one a lot a few years ago but something must've changed in the formulation and I am throwing this away after using less than half the bottle.

The next contender is Simple Eye Make-up Remover.

This would be great if it could remove mascara. Its really gentle on the eyes but it is so gentle it has a difficult time removing mascara and eyeliner. I pulled out way too many lashes trying to scrub my makeup off. If Simple could find a way to keep it gentle and remove mascara (I wasn't wearing waterproof) this could be a great product because it doesn't leave a major residue and doesn't irritate your eyes. This one is also going in the trash barely used.

Next up, we have Sonia Kashuk Remover.

I am very angry at this product. When they repackaged it, they must've changed the formula. I went through probably three bottles of the one with the white cap and I LOVED it. I tried to find it again and saw the new black cap and appearance and thought they had just changed the packaging, I was wrong. This remover irritated my eyes so much, to the point of tears (which I know was my eyes trying to flush themselves of this remover). I do not know why it had to change but I would really like it to go back to it's old formulation. This one is a big thumbs down from me.

Finally we have the Almay Oil Free Gentle Eye Makeup Remover.

Out of this grouping, this is the winner winner chicken dinner. I like the Almay eye makeup remover for water proof (in a blue bottle) more but it was out of stock when I needed a new one so I got this one instead. There is a slight residue after you use it but it dries or evaporates, not sure which one but it doesn't stay very long on your skin. It also does not irritate my eyes even when it gets in them because I poured too much on the cotton pad. It gets almost everything off, it has difficulty with one of my MAC mascaras (the waterproof one doesn't) but that just means I remove my eye makeup then wash my face then use a little more of the remover to clean up my eye area. Out of the four this one is clearly the winner and I do recommend it. If you can get the Almay one in the blue bottle it is even better but for now I will be sticking to Almay eye makeup removers. (The little pots of eye makeup remover pads are also super convenient and work quite well)

Let me know if you have an eye makeup remover that works for you or if you've tried any of these and what you think!
